Features
Custom Columbus Tubing Frame | MIX in Silver Fillet Brazing |
Q Factor | Road bike Q factor for mounting a road crankset while maintaining tire clearance up to 2.5" with a 142X12 rear dropout for thru-axle. |
Fork | Steel fork with cast head and dropouts for 12X10 thru-axle with provision for disc brakes. |
A combination of Columbus tubing and joints made using the Silver Fillet Brazed technique, this bicycle offers a Q factor similar to a road bike, tire clearance up to 2.5", and a 142X12 rear dropout for thru-axle.
The customer requested the creation of this frame because he experienced quadriceps and knee problems while riding the MTB, but not on the road bike.
After analyzing all the differences in saddle position between the two bikes, it was found that the substantial difference between the two bikes was the Q-Factor, the distance between the outer points of the crank arms.
